Daith Piercings and Migarines

There is no proven scientific research to show that the Daith piercing is affective for migraines.. But Lately, there have been claims that this inner-ear piercing known as a “daith piercing” can fix/help/minimise migraine headaches. For those who suffer frequent migraine headaches, I can imagine your desire to try anything and everything. Why not right??

The closest thing to a daith piercing that has been scientifically studied is acupuncture, which is commonly used as the last resort to help with migraines when nothing else is working. There is some evidence that acupuncture is slightly effective at helping to treat migraines, so maybe the daith piercing has a similar kind of effect. There are many pressure points in the human ear, and it could be that piercing the ear helps, there is no real evidence that daith piercings are effective, but if you want to give it a go why not!

If you have already taken the chance and got yours done, we want to hear about it! Let the world know your thoughts and feedback!

  • I got mine daiths pierced about 5mths ago and during that time I haven’t had a migraine or cluster except, like someone else mentioned, if I have a heavy cold or flu symptoms but even then it’s nowhere near as bad as it used to be. It does upset me though some people keep stating it should be healed by now – I’ve been a bit worried by these comments this week but I think the main thing to remember is that everyone heals at different speeds and remember that it can take ages for them to heal fully.

  • I have had migraines and constant headaches since I was a child and was on different medications to try to help with then. I finally decided to get my Daith done around 8 months ago and it has worked well for me I do get normal headaches still every now and again but only 1 proper migraine since getting my daith done. Would recommend even just as a trial for anyone who has similar problems or that has exhausted other methods of controlling them.

  • I got my daith piercing about 6 weeks ago (start of April) after a number of people had suggested this to me after having a continuous migraine (headache and nausea) for about a month.

I have had two migraines since, and they didn’t last more than a day.

I was prescribed preventative pills by a Neuro, but it numbed my pain (and my soul – I felt like a zombie) rather than fixing my head – it still felt like there was the pressure of a headache but no pain.

The moment I got the piercing the nausea disappeared, and a day or so later the headache was gone.

    I certainly don’t think it’s a “cure”, but it’s definitely helped me.

  • I got my daith about a year ago now.
The piercing has helped significantly. I used to suffer from a migraine 3-4 times a week, now I only get them if I have cold/flu symptoms. I’m really grateful I went through with it, I feel like I have my life back !

  • I got my daith done around august last year. I was getting 1 migraine a week.
Although it has taken a long time to heal at first it reduced my migraines to 1 a fortnight, as it got better and started healing my migraines started to disappear.
It has been fully healed for about 2 months. I haven’t had a migraine in that time.
I still wear my sunglasses at the gym but i feel it was very successful.
Everyone I have told I got it done has gotten theirs done too. Even if it just reduced the migraines everyone has had some success with it. Just need to be patient with healing.
